In May 2005 SK Communications launched ‘Cytogether (http://cytogether.cyworld.com)’, a volunteer portal in the Cyworld website, for the purpose of spreading the spirit of volunteerism throughout Korea. The portal is the country’s first online social welfare platform, and functions to connect Cyworld users with various foundations and organizations where they can lend a helping hand to those in need.

Already a large number of community welfare organizations have built mini homepages to describe their activities and connect with volunteers with time to give service. And because it’s part of Cyworld, Cytogether is not just informational: it gives all its users an interactive platform on which to share real experiences with one another.

By opening this window to the entire online universe, Cytogether has multiplied the efforts of volunteers and welfare organizations to shine new light into the lives of the underprivileged.
